What to Expect on Joyride Algarve Tours
We make each Joyride tour fun, safe, and tailored to the skills of people riding with us. From your first briefing to the final trail, our guides adapt the experience to the group's level while keeping the focus on enjoyment and safety.
There are three tour types depending on your experience:
-
Rookie Tour for beginners and returning riders
-
Hidden Hills and Golden Cliffs for intermediate
-
West Coast Expedition for riders with off-road experience
🚨 Our tours are all about fun, progression, and exploring the Algarve, not extreme riding. Guides adjust the pace and trails to the group’s abilities, always prioritizing safety. Even on advanced tours, we avoid dangerous trails and hard enduro-style riding. This experience is about adventure and exploration, not pushing limits or egos!
Meet, Gear Up & Get Ready
Your adventure begins with a short briefing, where we get to know each other, including everyone's experience, comfort level, and expectations for the ride.
Next, we’ll select and fit your protective gear. We provide helmets, goggles, gloves, knee and elbow pads, chest protection, and long-sleeved jerseys. Please wear closed-toe shoes, preferably covering the ankles, and long pants. This is an off-road experience, so expect a bit of dust or mud and don’t dress fancy.
To make sure everyone feels confident and comfortable, we match the bikes to your experience level. Less experienced riders usually ride the Surron Light Bee, a lightweight and easy-to-control electric dirt bike. More experienced riders can enjoy the extra power of the Surron Ultra Bee.
We currently have 3 Light Bees and 4 Ultra Bees available. These are not e-bikes — Surrons are powerful electric off-road machines that deliver a thrilling ride while remaining quiet and smooth.
track training
Before heading out on the trails, we run a short training session on our private track to make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident on the bike. Your guide will explain how the electric dirt bikes work, share safety tips, and demonstrate correct riding posture and control.
Each group receives training suited to their experience level, with practice time on our base track to warm up and prepare for different types of terrain. This allows beginners to build confidence while giving more experienced riders the chance to refine their technique.
Based on this practice session, the guide selects a route that best fits the group, ensuring a fun, safe, and enjoyable ride for everyone. Our goal is to create a personal experience for each rider — delivering the right balance of learning, confidence, and adrenaline.
tour
After the training session, we head out on the trail, riding through the Hidden Hills north of Lagos, along the Golden Cliffs, or toward the wild West Coast, depending on your chosen tour. Each route offers beautiful scenery and enjoyable off-road sections, carefully adapted to the group’s skill level.
Along the way, we make regular stops to take photos, drink water, and receive tips from your guide. When obstacles appear, the guide explains how to approach them safely and confidently, so you always know what’s ahead and feel in control.
Joyride Algarve is more than just another tour. You’ll gain a solid foundation in off-road riding from experienced guides, combining practice on a private track with real terrain in the Algarve. The skills and confidence you build here often carry over into everyday riding and future two-wheeled adventures.
You’ll also meet like-minded, adventurous people and discover hidden places in the Algarve that most visitors never get to see.
